For us, social responsibility goes beyond what we do in our offices. As an employee-owned business, the way we treat our people, our customers and our partners is at the heart of everything we do. We consider the impact of our individual and collective behaviours carefully, making decisions guided by our values.


Over the years, we have supported a number of charities with fundraising support and donations to assist those in need. In 2016, our employee community voted unanimously to commit greater support to Stockport-based first aid training charity, Millie’s Trust.
 
 

About Millie’s Trust

Millie’s Trust is a registered charity founded by Joanne and Dan Thompson, following the loss of their daughter Millie in a choking incident at her nursery in October 2012. The charity believes that everyone should have access to first aid training, irrespective of a person’s circumstances. Their mission is to make first aid training readily available at minimal cost and in as many places as possible, so that everyone has the opportunity to learn the skills that could enable them to save a life.

Millie’s Trust delivers paediatric training to everyone, including parents, grandparents and other family members, as well as delivering general first aid training. The charity offers free of charge first aid awareness courses to expectant parents, parents who have a child under the age of 12 months, and parents who are struggling to find the funds to attend. All courses are breastfeeding-friendly and baby-friendly until the age of 12 months.

Our association with Millie’s Trust dates back a few years when we stepped in to help them with branded clothing for their staff and first aid trainers.
To ensure that more staff working in childcare settings are fully trained, Millie's Trust provides a low-cost level 3 12-hour paediatric first aid qualification to childcare providers.

The charity’s founders campaigned successfully for Millie's Mark, a new quality mark introduced in July 2016 recognising excellence in paediatric first aid in early years settings. Created by the Department for Education and administered by the National Day Nurseries Association, Millie’s Mark is awarded when 100% of staff within a nursery are trained in paediatric first aid. As a result of achieving Millie’s Mark, childcare providers offering the higher standards in paediatric first aid can be easily identified, giving greater peace of mind and informed choice to those seeking childcare provision.
